What a UGA Writing Tutor Can Do For You:- Teach you the principles of good writing
- Help you with the conventions of academic discourse

- Offer strategies for enhancing and improving your writing
- Discuss the principles of grammar and editing and help you apply them to your paper
- Teach you how to proofread effectively
- Communicate with your teacher about what work was done in the tutoring session
What a UGA Writing Tutor Cannot Do for You:
- Proofread or edit a paper for you
- Provide content for your essay
- Help you in a way that conflicts with your instructor’s policies, procedures, or wishes
When tutoring First-Year Composition students, all tutors in official UGA programs are bound by these guidelines. However, the students themselves are responsible for insuring that the help they receive is of an appropriate nature, conforms to their instructor’s expectations and policies, and satisfies UGA’s Academic Honesty Policy.
